Get the Kate Upton Look

Club SI Swimsuit Hosted By 1 OAK Nightclub At The Mirage, Las Vegas

SI Swim Launch Week was a bit of a whirlwind. Between the parties, press conferences, and photo-ops, the memories have all started blurring together. One thing that hasn't? Cover girl Kate Upton's hair and makeup. Soft, elegant, and a hint of sexy -- how could we soon forget? So, hot rollers and hairspray in hand, we went straight to the source -- hairstylist Peter Butler, the man behind each look (as well as the last seven Swimsuit covers) -- to get the scoop. Always happy to help, he broke down each style, and offered a few pointed tips along the way!

From the expert:

Kate had two looks in Vegas.

The first was hair down -- beautiful, bombshell waves with soft texture for daytime TV and press. SUPER GORGEOUS and natural.

To create it, we started with a blow dry. I used a large round brush and a bit of Leonor Greyl Mousse Au Lotus Volumatrice. The product works perfectly with her fine, blonde hair--giving it more volume and hold. Next, I set Kate's hair with a one-and-a-half inch barrel curling iron in several sections. First, three sections on top of her head, all curling back. Then, a curl on either side of her face, going under, and finally, four big curls in the back. I pinned them all in place and then waited until Tracey Murphy was done with her makeup (so her hair could cool) before I took them down.

They brushed out easily and all I had left to do was smooth her whole head with a little Leonor Greyl Creme Eclat Naturel--I placed a pea-sized drop in the palm of my hands, rubbed them together, and then smoothed her hair, removing any flyaways for a nice, natural finish!

The second look in Vegas was for the red carpet. It was all about hair-up and Hollywood glamour; a bit of Marilyn Monroe in the eyes and attitude! I swept her hair up and away from her face to highlight her eyes and delicate neckline that is SO feminine and beautiful.

To get the look, I started with how her hair was already set from the day and then pulled it back into a chingnon. For super easy styling, I gathered her hair in a low ponytail with a bungee elastic--a band with a hook on each end, perfect for when you really need hair to be secure! Then, I took the loose hair in the 'tail, wrapped it around the elastic, and pinned it into the base, creating a knot. Larger pins work best and four usually does the trick!

After it was pulled back, I added in some broken texture around the front hairline and a little more volume around her forehead. She looked divine! Soft, not too severe, and elegant--just what we were going for! She did all the hard work in Antarctica, so it was nice to give her a look she could have fun with! I think she rocked it!!
